Driving is not only a mental process but also involves physical activity, those requiring motor skills that depend on our health. muscle strength, endurance, and range of motion of extremities. These skills are essential to safely operate a vehicle, including having to stop quickly, and the ability to turn and see the roadway and traffic. Even getting in the vehicle, motor abilities are needed to enter the automobile, shut the car door securely and fasten the seatbelt.  There are many factors, including illness, stress, fatigue, even aging that may involve a decrease in muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, and joint stability.  Speak to your physician regarding whether you are fit to drive.

Our capability to operate a motor vehicle starts with knowing our limitations, asking ourselves are we mentally and physically able to drive safely? If there is even the slightest doubt that you are unable to drive choose not to drive.
