Excessive Window Tinting

Arizona Revised Statute 28-959 requires front and side windows to be above 33% in Visible Light Transmission, while the rear side and rear windows may be given any tint darkness.  The windshield may have non-reflective tint along the top edge, if it is above the AS-1 line of the manufacturer. Arizona law says front side windows as well as rear side windows cannot be above 35% reflection.  The law also prohibits “Red Amber” as a legal tint color and requires dual side mirrors if the back window is tinted.

Clear views of the roadways should not be obstructed by dirty windows, faulty wind shield wipers, or things in the vehicles windows that obstruct operators view. Backing out of a driveway, pedestrians entering a crosswalk, or left or right turns need to be viewed clearly from various windows in your vehicle.
